Editorial Policy

Last updated

Prime Plumbing publishes guides, service pages and local pages so homeowners can understand a plumbing problem, know what to do first and judge a quote. This page explains how that content is made.

What we publish

  • Service pages: what the problem is, what a plumber does, what affects the cost and what is safe to try yourself.
  • Guides: answers to common how-to and what-is-wrong questions.
  • State and city pages: how local water, weather and housing affect plumbing, and who licenses plumbers there.

How pages are written

  • Each page opens with a direct answer, then explains the detail.
  • We describe standard plumbing practice and widely used plumbing codes. Local codes differ, so pages say when a permit or a licensed plumber is normally required rather than promising a rule for your address.
  • We do not publish prices, because the plumbing company that does the work sets them. We explain the factors that change a price instead.
  • We do not publish reviews, ratings or guarantees that we cannot verify.
  • Photos are stock photography used as illustrations, not pictures of jobs arranged through Prime Plumbing.

Review and updates

Every guide and service page shows the date it was last updated. The date changes only when the content changes.

Where a page has been reviewed by a licensed plumber, the reviewer is named on that page.

Licensing bodies and local programs named on state and city pages can change. Confirm a license or a program directly with the agency before relying on it.

Independence

Prime Plumbing is a referral service and may be paid by plumbing companies for connecting calls and requests. That does not change what our guides say: they tell you when a repair is something you can do yourself and when a problem can wait for a scheduled visit. How the service works.

Corrections

If something is inaccurate or out of date, tell us which page and what is wrong, with a source if you have one, through the contact page. Reports are reviewed, and the page is corrected when the report is right. The site map lists every page we publish, and the accessibility statement explains how to get help if a page is hard to use.

Not a substitute for an on-site assessment

Our content is general information. It cannot diagnose your plumbing. For anything involving gas, sewage, electricity near water or structural damage, have a licensed plumber look at it.
